Tutoring Sign Up for Title I Students

Students who attend a Title I school in Des Moines like Carver may be eligible for tutoring services at no cost to their family. Two-Wheel Roundup at Carver’s Bike Rodeo

Carver Community School was the site of a Bike Rodeo on Saturday. DMPS teamed up with the Des Moines Bicycle Collective, Iowa Department of Transportation, Capital Park Neighborhood Association and VIVA East Bank to provide children with bicycles, helmets and locks. Students took part in a fun bike-training course, run by the League of American Bicycle Instructors, that taught them bike safety and handling skills. Click the photo to read and see more.

DMPS Offers Free Summer Meal Program

DMPS will again offer breakfast and lunch over the summer months to children 18 and younger. The number of sites has grown, and so have the number of meals served. Last summer, DMPS staff fed children 28,722 breakfasts and 79,698 lunches. DMPS has sponsored a summer meal program for more than 30 years.
